2/1 - 2/29
*Winter Internship *-Participants will enjoy 16 workshops, half focused on
permaculture and the other half on communication/interpersonal skills.
This is in addition to daily participation in community life and
immersion in permaculture modalities.  The fee for the month is $675.

*Permaculture-*

2/3, Friday 9:30-4:30  Tropical Edible Landscaping.  Learn about creating
guilds. This class is designed as a Hands on the Land Learning
Environment.  Bring work gloves if you have them and wear sturdy shoes and
clothes you do not mind getting dirty!
$20/all day class, includes your lunch, or free if you bring your own lunch.

2/6, Monday 1:30-4pm  Connections: Permaculture Concepts to Increase Ease
and Joy.   This class is a general introduction to permaculture; ethics,
principles, sectors and zones. Land tour included.

2/9, Thursday 2:30-4:30 Healthy Soils = Healthy Plants and People.  This
class includes the study and use of Indigenous Micro-Organisms and Natural
Farming.

2/13, Monday 1:30-4:00 More on Healthy Soils.  Sheet mulching, orchard
maintenance, compost teas and more ways to use Indigenous Micro-Organisms.

2/16, Thursday 2:30-4:30 Creating Harmony: The Design Process.  Come learn
a simple cycle and hear personal accounts of using the design process.

2/20, Monday 1:30-4:00 Health Thanks to the Land: Local Herbal Medicinals.
 Learn about healthy tonics and specific plants for tropical ailments.

2/23, Thursday 2:30-4:30 Water and Health.  Learn some basic plant
pathology and discuss water utilization.

2/27, Monday 1:30-4:00 Animals, Including Us! In Permculture Systems. 
This class explores the roles of animals, including their manures.  We
have experience with sheep, chickens, rabbits, & humans.

All permaculture classes meet at the Main House
$20/class or advanced work trade.

*Wholistic Peer Support Training*
- Explore how emotions and thinking effect each other, how to give good
attention, how emotions get stored and can be released, how to maintain
good psychic boundaries, learn basic meditation of various types,
grounding, and centering. Cost: $15- $25 sliding scale/session. Intro is
free if you do not take the whole class.  Part trade possible. Returning

*Social Permaculture Classes*
Community Living Skills
-Our goal of creating and maintaining sustainable living systems requires,
co creating, and working together to utilize everyone's talents.  In this
process many of us receive the gift of looking at our
shadow sides which cause conflict in ourselves and with others.  Feelings
such as greed, envy, pride, anger, deceit and fear can arise.  These
classes focus on understanding ourselves, taking responsibility
for our feelings and communicating openly with truth.  We will utilize
Marshal Rosenberg's Non violent communication method. Cost: $20, advance

*Huna with Stewart Blackburn*
Huna is an Hawaiian spiritual system for healing and life-crafting that
emphasizes Aloha (love) as both the motivation and the power in life. Huna
offers a wide variety of powerful tools and perspectives for using
our minds and our feelings to produce significant results. There is no
doctrine or set of beliefs here, simply useful principles and an intention
to be effective. This class will possibly be followed by others, if there
is interest.  $5 donation appreciated.

The Earth Medicine Institute is offering a 100 hour Wild Crafter
certification. Topics covered include Plant Science, Gathering Protocols,
Herbal First Aid, Immunity, Inflammation, Food as Medicine, Medicine
Making, Breath Work, and more!  Classes will be one weekend per month on
Big Island, Maui, Kaua'i, and possibly O'ahu. The cost is $1500. Payment

3rd Aloha 'Aina Holistic Permaculture Design Course
La'akea Community, Puna, Big Island, Hawaii
Course Description
The Aloha 'Aina Holistic Permaculture Design Course will include the
standard 72-hour permaculture design curriculum based upon the original
Mollison and Holmgren ideas and design philosophies published in The
Permaculture Designer's Manual, as well as be a nourishing retreat and
hands-on immersion experience of sustainable living ecovillage design.
