The East Side Seed Exchange and Local Foods Cooking Competition will be happening at:
La'akea Community, near Pahoa

Bring your favorite dishes using only locally grown food
for the 2nd Annual 100% LOCAL FOOD COOKING COMPETITION AND POTLUCK!!
Optional competition for best savory and sweet dish
Bring Seeds AND Plant Cuttings and Bare Roots (Please Check for Fire Ants)
o        Exchange and give away localized plant material (bringing not required)
o        Hear a panel on Preparing & Preserving the Food We Grow
o        Enter the Local Cooking Competition
o        Try new taste delights at the Local Food Potluck!
o        Meet your neighbors, other gardeners &  innovative thinkers.

This event is free

Schedule:
Set up open at 8:30 am
   (bring your own tables and chairs, and
   scrap paper for small packets for seeds)
Opening Circle 9:00
Plant Material Swap: 9:15
Panel Presentation: 10:00
100% Local Food Contest: 11:45
Local Food Potluck: 12:30 (bring your own plates, utensils, etc)
Kun Marimba band plays joyful music for dancing 1:00pm

All cooking competition entries must arrive by 11am.
Entries must be made from produce/products from the Hawaiian Islands:
Oil - macnut or locally derived coconut oil (can be bought at new store in Pahoa called "Young Coconuts" "Localvores" next to NY Pizza Restaurant).
Salt, it is preferred if you would use the Hawaiian clay salt, but even that uses clay from HI but sea salt from NZ, so we'll let that one slide - any sea salt. 
Sugar can be from Maui. 
All the spices need to be locally grown and harvested.
Meat & Dairy needs to be locally sourced
