This Friday Kunzwa marimba band will be making a live recording at Kukuau music studio. We are asking all our friends and supporters to come on out and help us make this event happen! This has been a long time coming and we're finally there!

This workshop engages participants with activities centered around connection. Connection with self and with others plays an essential role in authentic relationships, building trust and creating environments for clear communication and personal growth.

The topics covered are:

- Peer Counseling as taught to me by Amara Karuna

- Boundaries: Saying "Yes" and "No"

- Compassionate Communication from Marshall Rosenberg

- Forum from ZEGG Community in Germany

- Huna, a Hawaiian Philosophy, as taught to me by Stewart Blackburn

- Healing from Within including the Skills of Pleasure as taught to me by Stewart Blackburn

- Manifesting Your Reality as taught to me by Stewart Blackburn

The fee is $120-$300 sliding scale. Please pay as your income allows.

** INTRO OPTION: You are invited to try the first class for $20 and then decide if you wish to commit to the series.**

These practices assist individuals in better understanding themselves and each other, increasing emotional sovereignty. The series of classes is an introduction to tools and techniques which help individuals create community. This work is best done in a Safe Container. This means participants must attend the first class.

Tracy Matfin is an educator turned gardener, mother, permaculture instructor and lover of life. She is a founding member of La’akea Community (permaculture-hawaii.com) where she has been living and experimenting with sustainability for more than ten years.


Tracy practices what she teaches. She practices non-violent communication, peer counseling, Huna (a form of Hawaiian spirituality), couples counseling and group facilitation. When people learn from Tracy, they tend to feel connected with themselves, the earth and one-another--they feel good and have fun.

Summer Sessions at Malamalama Waldorf School

Who: Ages 7-12

Tracy Matfin will be the session teacher for the first three weeks. These weeks will be filled with outside adventure, song, rhythm, art and tons of fun. Sign up for one week at a time or the whole six weeks. Daily drop ins also available. Call the school for more information on fees and to register.  Hope to see you there!

No need to be a Waldorf Student. This summer program is open to all kids - come get a flavor of Waldorf!

Science Adventures Summer Camp-Earth & Fire

Led by Tracy Matfin & Biko Long

Hosted at La’akea Community

When: July 15-19

Who: participants ages 10-14

Cost: $250. Need-based financial assistance available.

Participants will need to bring their own lunches. Snacks & food for the campout will be supplied.

Schedule:

Monday-Wednesday 9am – 3pm at La’akea Community, 13-3844 Ala'ili Rd.

Daily activities will include hands-on science experiments, crafts, music and singing as well as active play in the Meadow Space and on the land. Students may arrive earlier or later by special arrangement.

Thursday 9am – Friday 9pm Campout, Ho’okena Beach Park

We drive to Ho’okena on Thursday, stopping several times, including Volcano national park, with attention to geological formations. We overnight at Ho’okena on Thursday and start our return trip Friday afternoon. The return trip over Saddle will include a stop at the Mauna Kea visitor center for observation of sunset and the night sky. Kids will be available for pick-up in Pahoa at 9pm.
